From old vines growing in schist soils, it spent fully 30 months on the lees. The nose offers aromas of ripe pears, toasted nuts, smoke, warm bread and vanilla pod. The full-bodied palate is fleshy and textural, with lovely underlying tension and a chalky finish.
Jean-Jacques Robert took over five hectares of his grandfather?s vines in the Maconnais just outside the village of Fuisse after finishing law school in 1988. Jean-Jacques soon came under the influence of two ardent defenders of terroir (the great master of Morgon, Marcel Lapierre, and the American importer, Kermit Lynch) and introduced radical changes to the domaine. Since then, his sons Nicolas and Antoine joined him 2006 and 2012. The old vines (between 50 and 70 years old) are farmed organically since 15 years and about to be certified. They also think about switching to biodynamics in the coming years.
