Domaine Bois de Boursan
Jean-Paul VERSINO
Created in 1955, the domaine used to sell their wine in bulk to local negociants. That changed in the 80’s when Jean-Paul Versino took over from his father although today 15% are still sold in bulk. The 16 hectares vineyard is spread over 27 different parcels in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The average age of the vines is a modest 60 years old and Jean-Paul is also farming 100+ years old Grenache. The domaine is certified organic since 2011 even though Jean-Paul’s father was already working this way for decades. The whites are vinified in stainless steel and aged in combination of barrels (20%) and stainless steel tanks (80%). The reds are mainly made with Grenache. Extraction is soft and ageing occurs in very old beer foudres and some barrels (20% new) for 2 years.
"The wines are ripe and juicy. They show an animal tone and fresh garrigue hints. A very good value"
