Domaine Marchand-Grillot
Jacques, Marion and Etienne MARCHAND
Domaine Marchand-Grillot was founded in 1950 and covers 9 hectares of vines, spread across 47 different plots. Today, Jacques Marchand is the 5th generation running the domaine with the help of his children Marion and Etienne. In addition to Premier and Grand Cru holdings the domaine is one of the few to bottle most of his village wines as single lieux-dit.
The vines are farmed in "lutte raisonnée", the first treatment of the year being conventional. The following ones are organic treatments. On another hand, the domaine stopped using pesticides and herbicides 25 years ago.
The grapes are 100% destemmed (except for the cuvée Champerrier) and the fermentation occurs naturally with indigenous yeasts. The wines are aged for 12 to 18 months in oak barrels, 33% of them being new. A small amount of sulfur is added before fermentation and bottling.
"The domaine produces a traditional style of Pinot with a lot of finesse and elegance. Oak ageing bring them structure and power"
