Cave Julien Cécillon
Cave Julien Cécillon Cave Julien Cécillon has been created in 2011 by a lovely winemakers couple: American Nancy Kerschen and Julien Cécillon. Their adventure started with 0.3 hectares in Saint-Joseph which grew step by step. In 2013 they got the opportunity to purchase a tremendous parcel of Crozes-Hermitage. At the time they both had to deal with their winemaking activity on their spear time besides of their teaching jobs (winemaking for him, English for her). The domaine growing and the family as well, they decided in 2016 to focus full time on the domaine. Thus, they created a négoce business which buys the domaine’s wines (a bit less than 4 hectares) as well as grapes from fellow winemakers at the price they ask for. Nancy and Julien are now producing 40k bottles across different appellation (Saint-Joseph, Crozes- Hermitage, Saint-Péray & Cornas). In order to focus on high quality production, they won’t grow bigger than 100k. They’re not using any chemical input in both vine growing and winemaking and are dedicated to sustainable farming. Based on their various experiences around the world they blend modern techniques with old world traditions and growing methods. Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks and every parcels are vinified separately. The reds are usually vinified with 30% whole cluster in average and extraction is very soft: pump over only. The wines are aged in barrels with 10% new oak in average. "The wines are stunning and quality is increasing with each vintage. They’re very well structured, graceful and food friendly"
