A generous and charismatic man, Jean-François Ganevat is a great artist with a big heart, able to understand every terroir better than anyone else. Above all, he’s Jura’s genie of the lamp and his wines make everyone fall in love. After experience in Burgundy, he took over the family’s vineyards in 1998. Fanfan (his nickname) is the 14th generation to work this land – in the family since 1650. In 2003, his sister Anne joined the domaine and together they started in 2014 a negoce business: Anne et Jean-Francois Ganevat. The vines are farmed biodynamically and meetings with Pierre Overnoy led him to follow the natural direction, with no sulfur added in the wines.Everything is tidy and clean in the cellar, nothing is left to chance. The wines are not clarified and batonnage is not used. The only things used to protect the wines are carbon dioxide and extended periods on the lees. Although Vin Jaune is produced at the domaine, Ganevat crafts most of his wines in the ouillé style. Wines are aged for a long time in combination of barrels and amphora."The wines are precise, intense and incredibly elegant. The freshness is stunning and the acidity is wonderfully mastered."
