This is a blend of 70% grenache, 10% syrah, 10% mourvedre and 10% other varieties. The nose offers aromas of ripe cherries, leather and garrigues. Palate is structured around juicy stone fruit flavors with soft but present tannins. The finish is powerfull and spicy.
This organic domaine has been created in 1955 and used to sell their wine in bulk to local negotiants. That changed in the 80's when Jean Paul Versino took over from his father although today 15% are still sold in bulk. The 16 hectares vineyards are spread over 27 different parcels in the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation. The average age of the vines is a modest 60 years old and Jean Paul is also farming 100+ years old Grenache.
