Gigondas La Font de Tonin Domaine de la Bouissiere 2018

This is grown on the highest terraces of th domaine (for the grenache part). The nose is a very fragrant bouquet of red berries, toffee and sweet oak spices. The palate is is voluptuous with dark fruit flavours. Tannins are present but round and generous.

In 1960?s Antonin Faravel started to form his vineyard by planting vines on the stone cliffs of the Dentelles de Montmirail. He knew that the cooler temperatures and rocky soils would produce perfectly ripe grapes, with better acidic balance and lower alcohol, too. While other winemakers quickly followed Antonin?s lead, Domaine la Bou?ssiere without question is the original, high-altitude Gigondas. Nowadays the domaine is run by his children (Thierry and Giles) who are still farming one of the highest vineyards in the appellation.
